Dr. Ava has a doctorate in human behavior from Newport University, CA and a Doctorate of Education in Human Sexuality from the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco. She is an AASECT Certified Sex Counselor, Clinical Sexologist, Hypnotherapist, Continuing Education Provider for the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences and the CA Board of Registered Nursing. Through her private practice in Los Angeles, Dr. Ava counsels people on main stream issues that range from anger management, fear of commitment, lack of communication to lack of desire. She also specializes in helping singles and couples with personal problems such as performance anxiety, infidelity, sexual compulsion, fetishes, inability to orgasm to parental concerns.

As a highly sought after speaker Dr. Ava has traveled to four continents motivating Fortune 500 business owners, doctors, religious groups, students and women’s organizations to create magical relationships and passionate intimate moments. Dr. Ava is the author of seven books and is an internationally recognized expert in the fields of relationships, intimacy and sexuality. As a contribution to Sexology, Dr. Ava invented the TriGasm Vibrator to stimulate of 3 points of pleasure simultaneously and empower female sexuality; which was manufactured and distributed by Doc Johnson Enterprises. She also brought Tantric Sex into the mainstream by creating a board game called the Tantric Game for Lovers, which is double-side board game that offers fun, enlightening and sensual exercises for beginners on one side and more advanced sexual Tantric techniques on the other side. But Dr. Ava insists that her best qualification for being an expert on love and sex is that she practices what she preaches; She is married to Peter Knecht, a renowned defense lawyer and they have been together for over 20 years.

After more than 4,000 episodes portraying nurse Bobbie Spencer, Chief Surgical RN on ABCs iconic soap, General Hospital, Jacklyn has become one of the most visible and likeable actresses on network television. A true contemporary, Jackie has become a role model to millions of daytime viewers.

In addition to her daytime television work, she has performed in many theatre and feature film productions including Young Doctors in Love, National Lampoon's Class Reunion, The Day the Music Died, and Deep in the Valley. She received critical acclaim for her starring role in Montana Crossroads, an ABC After School Special, and co-starred as a lawyer in ABCs Comedy Movie for Television, Jury Duty.  She has guest starred on many television shows including Oprah, MADtv, Good Morning America, Live with Regis & Kathie Lee, Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune.

Her interest and flare for interior design lead to appearances on At Home With... on the E! Entertainment Network, Home and Garden with Rob Weller, Treasures in Your Home, Great Day America on the PAX television channel and Soap Pads with Kim Zimmer. She was featured on Jamie Jamison's Home Tips, a syndicated radio show airing in over 300 markets nationally, and hosted Soap Talk for The ABC Radio Network.

Jackie also is a jewelry designer; her collections have appeared on QVC, Home Shopping Network, and Shop at Home TV.  She is author of the book "Beauty on the Go" and has written beauty and fitness feature articles for major consumer and Daytime magazines.  She is a regular spokesperson for national campaigns for major corporations in all forms of media, public relations and marketing.

Jackie received the Gabriel Projects Distinguished Achievement Award for her continued support for African children in critical need of life-saving heart surgery. She has personally traveled to Africa to accompany children back to the United States. She has been a board member and the Leukemia Societys Honorary Chair for various events and she received the Leukemia Societys Charlotte M. Meyers Volunteer Recognition Award. She is a spokesperson for the American Heart Association, helping to raise awareness of the women's risk of heart disease and received their Les Etoiles de Coeur Award. For more than ten years Jackie, with former General Hospital co-star Rick Springfield, has co-hosted the annual Dolphin Ball numerous times, raising money for Cystic Fibrosis.
